Telco Deploys Entone HD Devices For IPTV Services

SAN MATEO, California — Entone, Inc., a leading provider of IPTV home connectivity solutions, today announced that its award-winning Hydra HD™ IP video gateway and Amulet™ HD IPTV receiver have been chosen for Chequamegon Communications’ IPTV service rollout.

Chequamegon Communications Cooperative is comprised of 12 exchanges and is the largest telephone cooperative in Wisconsin. Chequamegon is a full service communications company that offers digital telephone, Internet and IPTV services across northern Wisconsin.

“We had an extensive list of requirements for our IPTV rollout and needed a field-proven solution that can be deployed quickly and economically,” stated Jeff Lee, Plant Manager at Chequamegon Communications. “We’re impressed with Hydra’s capabilities and its ease of integration with other leading middleware and DRM solutions. With Entone’s gateway products and no-new wires model, we are able to accelerate our IPTV deployment and remain at the forefront of advanced service offerings.”

Entone’s Connected Home Solutions incorporate media routing technologies that enable users to access advanced TV services, including whole-home DVR and online media, from any TV in the home without requiring new wiring or a set-top box at each TV. In the case of Chequamegon’s deployment of Entone’s Hydra IP video gateway, subscriber homes only need a single gateway device to distribute live and recorded video services to all TVs in the home, resulting in dramatic cost savings in both capital and operating costs for the operator.

“We are delighted to be adding Chequamegon Communications to our roster of more than 80 progressive operators deployed with Entone,” commented Steve McKay, CEO of Entone. “We look forward to supporting them as they rollout other new emerging services to their growing subscriber base.”
