VCAS for IPTV and BeeSmart IPTV Solution Continues its Track Record in Eastern Europe

AMSTERDAM — IBC2009 — Verimatrix, setting the standard in content security technologies that enhance the value of pay-TV networks, today announced the successful deployment of its Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS™) for IPTV for BH Telecom’s IPTV service. The addition of IPTV services positions BH Telecom, the leading telecommunications operator in Bosnia & Herzegovina, as a strong triple play provider to its 2 million subscribers.

Smart Com, the leading infrastructure architect for information society in Slovenia and a recognized system integrator in Europe, has integrated VCAS for IPTV content security with its BeeSmart platform, a complete middleware solution for IPTV systems. The integrated solution enables secure delivery of live TV channels in digital quality and video-on-demand (VOD) content, along with a powerful use electronic program guide to manage personal video recordings, voice calls via TV screen and play games for BH Telecom subscribers.

“The right mix of channel variety, on demand content and innovative interactive features is a major factor for the widespread adoption by our subscribers,” said Nedzad Residbegovic, general manager of BH Telecom. “Verimatrix and Smart Com have a proven track record in Eastern European IPTV deployments and we are confident this platform will serve our long-term needs.”

VCAS for IPTV offers a downloadable security system that is not only more secure, it enables less expensive set-top box or client device hardware and renewable security software can be updated as required to combat piracy attacks. VCAS for IPTV enables complete transparency for legitimate content consumption while significantly raising the level of protection against content piracy. As the global leader in software-based security, VCAS for IPTV offers flexibility in the choice of client devices, broad middleware interoperability and proven scalability.

“The BH Telecom deployment is another great example of why the IPTV market is still growing – the impact of new revenue streams, especially in current market conditions,” said Steve Oetegenn, chief sales and marketing officer, Verimatrix. “We give a lot of credit to our local partners that have extended our success in protecting IPTV screens in the Eastern European region.”

Service delivery platform BeeSmart enables service providers to offer an enriched interactive TV service to their customers. Not only is BeeSmart a versatile TV middleware, enabling easy integration of IPTV subsystems, it also contains a compelling array of value-added services to supplement a broadcast service and thus increasing ARPUs and reducing churn of service operators.
