ALPHARETTA, GA — Leading independent US telecommunications network operator Matanuska Telephone Association (MTA) has selected Amino Communications (LSE: AMO), the world leading independent IPTV specialist, as part of their expanded high definition (HD) IP set-top box (STB) deployment.

Alaska-based MTA provides over 60,000 lines across its 10,000 square mile network area, offering a range of broadband, IPTV and wireless services to residential and business customers. One of the largest independent telcos in the US, MTA was formed in 1953 to serve residents in Palmer, Eagle River and Wasilia.

MTA will deploy Amino’s A130 – an MPEG-4 HD single stream STB – and the A530, an HD DVR which creates additional revenue opportunities for operators by supporting advanced IPTV functionality such as DVR, pause-live-TV and pushed content models.

Eric Anderson, MTA’s Director of Engineering, Construction and Operations said: “At MTA we are making a significant investment to develop our IPTV service. Amino’s HD set-top boxes with their cutting edge features strengthen our market proposition, and their flexible and knowledgeable technical support team has already proved to be an asset. By selecting a specialist like Amino, we are looking forward to successfully delivering next generation IPTV.”

Amino Communications Director of Sales (Western Region) Dan Carufel said: “MTA’s continual expansion of their HD service offering is very much in line with their reputation for innovation and service excellence. Our A130 and A530 boxes are the ideal solution – delivering the quality of entertainment experience that customers have come to expect from MTA.”
