Intel® Atom™ Processor CE4100 Security Features Comply With Verimatrix’s Hardened Device Security Requirements

LAS VEGAS, NV — NAB 2010 Booth #SU1926 — Verimatrix, setting the standard in content security technologies that enhance the value of pay-TV networks, has certified the Intel® (NASDAQ:INTC) Atom™ Processor CE4100 for use with its ViewRight® video security technologies. The certification is based on the advanced features of the CE4100 system on chip (SOC) that support the stringent security requirements for premium pay-TV service delivery to hybrid and IPTV set-top boxes, consumer electronics equipment and mobile devices.

The Intel Atom Processor CE4100 combines leading-edge CE features for support of high-definition video, home-theatre quality audio and advanced 3-D graphics, with the performance, flexibility and compatibility of hardware and software based on Intel architecture. Because a growing number of new digital TVs, Blu-ray Disc players and advanced set-top boxes are incorporating the CE4100 media processor to enable high-quality video service delivery, Verimatrix has verified that its content security and revenue protection techniques can be rigorously hardened using a range of security capabilities within the Intel CE4100.

“Although the technology now exists to deliver high quality digital video to nearly every type of device, securing revenue streams for this content is key to gaining support from content owners and operators,” said Keith Wehmeyer, Intel Corporation’s general manager, IPTV Segment, Digital Home Group. “We are pleased the advanced security features of the Intel Atom Processor CE4100 have been verified by Verimatrix to support its ViewRight video security technologies.”

Verimatrix’s ViewRight client technology enables a cardless video security solution based on standards-based encryption, and Public Key Infrastructure to complement the head-end components of the Verimatrix Video Content Authority (VCAS™) solution. Verimatrix’s device security approach takes full advantage of secure processing and tamper resistant features within newer generations of advanced VLSI devices.

“Intel’s thorough attention to the security features and programming facilities of these chips has provided our team with a lot of flexibility to match our security solutions to a range of different CE platforms,” said Petr Peterka, CTO, Verimatrix. “Several of our partners are already capitalizing on the processing power of the CE4100 to create compelling new devices for digital video service delivery.”
