e-téra extends its communications offering to include IPTV as part of a local project to stimulate the economy, raise competitiveness of local businesses and develop regional public services

PARIS — Anevia, a video service infrastructure provider, today announced that e-téra has chosen Anevia’s IPTV and video on demand servers to deploy IPTV services over fiber to the home (FTTH) in the French towns of Toulouse and Albi, as part of an initiative to stimulate the local economy and develop public services.

e-téra is a next generation telecom operator. The company provides services to telecommunications operators, Internet service providers, local enterprises, government administrations and consumers. Founded in 2000 as a public initiative to raise regional enterprise competitiveness and extend the public service offering, e-téra delivers cost effective telecom solutions for Internet and telephony services, interconnection between sites and network infrastructure.

e-téra owns a long distance fiber optic network giving the operator complete control of its operations. The operator delivers wide network coverage in France and abroad through numerous interconnection agreements with national and international network operators, national DSL coverage, interconnection to other fiber optic networks and a presence in international Internet exchange points (GIX Paris, GIX Geneva).

As a local supplier, e-téra works closely with customers and government administrations to provide services that serve the community. Adding IPTV to existing voice and data services forms part of the operator’s strategy to achieve this objective. The IPTV services will also provide e-téra with additional sources of revenue with which to develop their network and continue to provide high quality services.

Marc Gauché at e-téra, stated, “e-téra chose Anevia because of their proven expertise in video over IP, breadth of experience in IPTV deployments and extensive customer references. We needed a supplier with knowledge of FTTH networks and telecom service requirements. Anevia had the experience and could provide the advanced technologies that would simplify deployment and optimize our investment.”

Bernard Van Hoorn, Business Development Southern & Northern Europe at Anevia, added, “We are proud to be part of such an innovative telecommunications initiative. The e-téra project forms part of Anevia’s strategy to extend IPTV services in the telecom sector and illustrates Anevia’s expertise in advanced video technologies for telcos. It is also a perfect example of our desire to bring advanced communication services to the people who need them.”
