EchoStar Europe Announced Today That It Has Teamed Up With Nagravision to Launch a Pre-Integrated Client and Connected-Device Platform for IPTV Operators — The Solution Comprises of an Advanced, Hybrid DVR From EchoStar and OpenTV’s Interactive Linux-Based Client Solution

STEETON, United Kingdom — EchoStar Europe (NASDAQ: SATS), a leading developer of added-value, connected-device solutions to the digital television industry, announced today that it has worked closely with Nagravision to port OpenTV Linux-based client middleware to the EchoStar HDX-600R hybrid digital video recorder (DVR), providing an advanced, secure and interactive connected-device solution for IPTV and broadband TV operators in Europe.

The state-of-the-art HDX-600R platform uses an advanced silicon solution that is fully compliant with Nagravision’s NASC (Nagra Advanced Security Certification) specifications which support features such as secure multi-screen content delivery. The versatile HDX-600R platform can be supplied with various DVB-T, DVB-S, and DVB-C front-ends including optional DOCSIS-based modem and DVR. The solution can also be shipped with fully integrated SlingLoaded® functionality allowing operators to deliver a compelling TV Anywhere experience to their customers. SlingLoaded technology allows consumers with Internet connections to watch TV Anywhere — inside or outside the home — on SlingPlayer™ enabled devices including PC, Mac®, BlackBerry®, iPhone® and Android®-based smart/mobile phones.

OpenTV middleware provides core Linux-based operating software for set-top boxes (STBs) and supports a rich feature set from linear TV to home networking. The solution supports a full range of connected devices from entry-level STBs to advanced DVRs and Home Gateways across all network types (cable, satellite, IPTV, terrestrial) including hybrid. It also supports multiple application environments including HTML, Adobe® Flash®, SVG and comes with a pre-integrated application suite for EPG, DVR supporting cable VOD, IPTV VOD, OTT adaptive streaming or progressive download VOD, and other value-added applications such as NAGRA Media Widgets.
