PARIS — Broadband World Forum, Stand H3 – Marvell (NASDAQ: MRVL), a worldwide leader in integrated silicon solutions, and Jungo Ltd., a leading provider of software solutions for residential gateways, today announced that the two companies have integrated Jungo’s OpenRG™ residential gateway software and Marvell’s AVANTA™ Application Gateway-on-a-Chip (GoC). With the new residential gateway reference platform, service providers and network operators will have easier access to always-on home services and value-added applications while increasing average revenue per user.

Newest to Marvell’s AVANTA family of broadband optical solutions, the Application GoC integrates Marvell’s flagship 2 GHz Application Processor, optical broadband, with smartphone-like power management, and Ethernet switch and transceiver integration. The AVANTA Application GoC is the first to introduce Universal PON (UPON) interface with seamless auto-sensing and auto-configuration between ITU-GPON, IEEE-EPON, China-specific EPPON, and Point-2-Point Gigabit Ethernet.

The UPON residential gateway platform powered by Jungo’s OpenRG software offers a managed gateway with intelligent data routing with quality of service (QoS), carrier-class VoIP, IPv6 support, and virtual private networks with firewalls. The platform also provides seamless support for multiple wide area network (WAN) and local area network (LAN) technologies, including EPON, GPON Gigabit Ethernet, USB and WiFi. The modular software architecture is easily tailored to offer additional capabilities and services.

“Marvell is pleased to collaborate with Jungo and offer a total solution home application gateway platform to service providers and network operators,” said Nafea Bshara, Vice President of Technology and Strategy for the Enterprise Business Unit at Marvell Semiconductor, Inc. “Our collaboration with Jungo offers customers a field- proven, cost-effective, and scalable solution for the fast growing optical broadband gateway and service-router market. Combining the superior architecture and performance of the AVANTA GoC with Jungo’s OpenRG™ software suite enables Marvell to bring to market a complete, ready-to-deploy, open source-friendly application gateway platform.”

“Service providers strive to build and maintain their presence and service uptake within the subscriber’s digital home in order to increase their average revenue per user and reduce customer churn, while maintaining a high performance and cost effective service delivery,” said Mr. Rami Amit, Jungo’s CTO. “Our collaboration with Marvell, using their broadband gateway processors, delivers a comprehensive solution for deploying and managing the multi-service connected home.”
