Sezmi’s comprehensive hybrid TV platform to deliver a diverse set of video services

BELMONT, Calif. & MEXICO CITY — Sezmi Corporation and Grupo Iusacell, one of Mexico’s leading communications and television services companies, today announced that Grupo Iusacell has chosen Sezmi’s proven hybrid broadcast-broadband television platform to deploy multiple next-generation video services for its mobile businesses and its fiber-to-the-home business Totalplay.

“Grupo Iusacell is committed to providing its customers with the most advanced video experience at the lowest cost. We conducted an extensive evaluation of television solutions and concluded that Sezmi’s personalized video services platform was uniquely capable of meeting our business needs,” said Adrian Steckel, chief executive officer of Grupo Iusacell. “We found that Sezmi is the only solution on the market today that allows us to leverage the infrastructure investments we have already made, create multiple service offerings based on a single platform, and efficiently manage our business operations after deployment. We are looking forward to working with Sezmi to bring these new offerings to our customers.”

The Sezmi platform will enable Grupo Iusacell to launch truly differentiated video services for its Iusacell, Unefon, and Totalplay businesses. The services will include both home TV and mobile TV experiences. Several distinct service offerings, with distinct branding, will be launched in the market, however, all services will utilize a single unified Sezmi video platform.

Sezmi’s hybrid television platform will optimize usage of Grupo Iusacell’s existing fiber and mobile networks, enabling both a fast deployment and low capital investment, which are distinguishing benefits of Sezmi’s hybrid approach.

“We are very excited about our partnership with Grupo Iusacell,” said Buno Pati, chief executive officer of Sezmi. “This partnership further exemplifies the power of using a single platform to provide uniquely targeted services while leveraging existing infrastructure. Global demand for Sezmi’s hybrid television platform continues to grow. Here in Mexico we’ll be deploying over fiber, 3G and 4G mobile networks, while half way around the world in Malaysia, our same service platform is being implemented over DVB-T2 and 4G. We are not limited by infrastructure and truly believe that television service consumers should not be either.”
