IBC 2011, Stand 1.C31 — HbbTV continues to gain market share across Europe with growing interest around the world. Strategy & Technology (S&T) is a member of the HbbTV consortium and is actively involved in development of the specification with contributions based on our 15 years involvement in interactive TV. Our technology for receiver manufacturers, broadcast playout and applications gives us a unique system-level insight of the complete HbbTV ecosystem. As HbbTV gathers momentum with a growing number of deployments across Europe, S&T has enhanced its interactive TV product range for both broadcasters and receiver manufacturers with HbbTV-conformant technologies and products.

At IBC 2011 S&T will show its new HbbTV products:

  • RedKey™3 : Digital TV receiver client software that implements the HbbTV specification. RedKey3 integrates the hugely successful NetFront Browser from ACCESS with HbbTV signalling and S&T’s proven DSM-CC client. RedKeyTM3 uses the same API as the previous versions, offering manufacturers a shorter time to market when adding HbbTV support to existing receiver implementations.
  • TSBroadcaster2 HbbTV : The second generation of S&T’s market-leading DSM-CC Object Carousel generation and playout system, now includes full support for broadcast carousel playout of HbbTV applications and generation of associated signalling in AIT with ASI or IP transport stream output.

Colin Prior, Director of International Sales at S&T commented, “HbbTV is providing broadcasters with the capability to provide compelling interactive services to their viewers based on a public standard. S&T is committed to deliver complete HbbTV solutions, building on our considerable experience and understanding of the market”.
