Nexstreaming’s Media Player Has Been Integrated with Verimatrix Content Security and is Available for Android Application Developers and Service Providers

BARCELONA — Mobile World Congress 2012 — Nexstreaming (KOSDAQ:139670), leading provider of mobile multimedia software, and Verimatrix, leading provider of secured content delivery solutions, announced the integration of NexPlayer media player with the Verimatrix ViewRight for Web security client. The resulting combination allows service providers to securely deliver live streaming content to any Android device.

The ViewRight Web client is a component of the Verimatrix third-generation Video Content Authority System (VCAS 3). VCAS for Internet TV provides a premium OTT pay-TV content and revenue security solution to the broad base of connected devices supporting HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) delivery. VCAS for Internet TV secures both live and on-demand OTT services with the Verimatrix enhanced HLS security where the basic AES-128 encryption is extended with specific content security techniques in order to address the critical licensing requirements for premium content. Core security techniques commonly used in pay-TV systems such as client device authentication and subscriber entitlement management, are both provided as standard in VCAS 3.

Nexstreaming’s advanced player technology, including the latest mobile codecs and protocols such as HLS and Smooth Streaming, is based on extensive experience in the industry. With the release of the NexPlayer version with Verimatrix ViewRight Web inside, service providers are assured of the best video quality and highest level of content security for delivery to Android devices, regardless of the device model or Android OS version.

Dr Il-Taek Lim, CEO of Nexstreaming, said: “We are proud to extend the number of versions of our media player with leading content and revenue security technologies like Verimatrix VCAS. Together, we enable OTT operators to go up market and generate incremental pay-TV services revenue.”

“Deploying this type of solution with Nexstreaming underscores the maturing of OTT video services as they become more akin to traditional pay-TV services – in quality, functionality and the consumer experience,” said Petr Peterka, CTO, Verimatrix. “Pay-TV operators increasingly blend OTT into their standard service offerings. To support this trend, Nexstreaming and Verimatrix provide enhanced OTT video quality of experience, coupled with studio approved security functionality, enabling delivery of premium services to OTT devices.”
