CARTAGENA, Colombia — Andina Link 2012 — Verimatrix, the specialist in securing and enhancing revenue for multi-screen digital TV services around the globe, today announced the deployment of Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS™) for IPTV to protect Colombian telecommunications company Emcali’s inaugural IPTV service. Emcali has 90,000 broadband clients and more than 450,000 telephony users in the Colombian municipalities of Cali, Jamundi, and Yumbo. Its new IPTV service will offer 90 standard definition channels plus six high definition (HD) channels, as well as video on demand (VoD) titles. With the launch of its new network, Emcali will be able to offer triple play packages.

As the global number one in IPTV content protection, VCAS for IPTV enables the secure delivery of live, on-demand and interactive video services, as well as offering a solid upgrade platform that Emcali can use to cost-effectively enhance its competitive advantage. This marks the 13th IPTV project Verimatrix has implemented together with ZTE, three of which are in the Latin American region.

“We are delighted to have partnered with ZTE on yet another successful deployment,” said Steve Oetegenn, chief sales and marketing officer, Verimatrix. “I am confident that our combined solution will provide optimum flexibility for Emcali as it grows its network and adds future revenue streams.”

VCAS for IPTV is a fully integrated component of the umbrella VCAS 3 architecture, which enables secure video delivery across a broad range of networks and device types. VCAS 3 shifts the value proposition beyond content protection, towards the broader perspective of revenue security. Digital TV operators are able to address new opportunities in the accelerating convergence of video delivery over various types of networks to a multitude of devices.

VCAS for IPTV offers flexibility in choice of client devices, broad middleware interoperability and proven scalability. For more than five years, Verimatrix has been ranked number one globally in IPTV content protection and DRM by market research firm Multimedia Research Group, Inc. (MRG).
