SANTA CLARA, Calif. and BOSTON — VisualOn, Inc., a multimedia software company that provides solutions enabling high quality video and audio on any mobile platform, announced today that it has incorporated MPEG-DASH into the company’s mobile media player, OnStream MediaPlayer+. This will allow operators and content providers to employ new multimedia streaming capabilities, including MPEG-DASH streams and components of the OSMP+ framework that allows easy DRM integration.
VisualOn has integrated MPEG-DASH, a new standard for adaptive streaming over Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP), into OnStream MediaPlayer+. The solution optimizes playback across any connected device, further alleviating the challenges of scaling high quality media delivery across fragmented, multi-platform mobile ecosystem. These efforts come as part of VisualOn’s commitment to advocate for the adoption of MPEG-DASH as an international standard within the market. VisualOn is a member of the DASH Promoters Group.
MPEG-DASH provides a high quality, quick-to-market solution for content providers and cable operators to unify their content delivery approach across a broad range of devices including PCs, TVs, laptops, set-top boxes, game consoles, tablets and mobiles phones. The new standard simplifies the delivery of IP video and streamlines workflow, allowing content providers to deliver the highest quality user experience with greater cost efficiency.
“We are committed to the highest possible video quality delivery across all types of connected devices, which drives our continued development of a sophisticated streaming technology,” said Yang Cai CEO of VisualOn, Inc. “MPEG-DASH is an emerging trend that puts our customers’ multiscreen solutions at the forefront of the industry.”
VisualOn will be demonstrating the MPEG-DASH integration with its multimedia solutions at The Cable Show on May 21-23 in Boston, Mass. They are located at booth number ES-81.
