GERMANY — Vestel, a major player in the consumer electronics industry, and Beenius, a provider of highly advanced interactive TV middleware, will present the new Android set-top box with Beesmart middleware, for the first time, on ANGA Cable 2012 in Germany, from 12 to 14 June.

Vestel will be showcasing the Android set-top box with Beesmart middleware and companion device on their stand in Hall 10.1/Q9 at Anga Cable 2012. The new set-top box is based on Android platform and therefore offers an environment for many popular Android applications. The integration process was rapid and efficiently done, thanks to openness of Beesmart platform. Beesmart SDK enables operators to create their own applications according to their needs, whereas Beesmart Open API gives access to all levels of middleware and enables development of applications on top of operator’s existing platform.

The new Vestel’s set-top box also supports Ekioh web browser and operates on Edgeware, Anevia, Espial, and Bitband VOD servers.

Hakan Kutlu, Deputy General Manager at Vestel Foreign Trade, commented “We are pleased to offer Beesmart middleware and companion device solutions that Beenius offers” and added “Hybrid STBs with Beesmart middleware can be customized to include additional CA technologies according to operator’s requirements.”

“Vestel made the new IP Box with Beesmart in a record time, where Beesmart’s openness and flexibility played a very positive role in such accomplishment. We are delighted to work with Vestel and excited to show the new product with Beesmart on ANGA Cable show this year” said Matjaž Bevk, Beenius CEO.
