San Diego, CA — Entropic Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: ENTR), a leading provider of systems solutions to enable connected home entertainment, today announced that it has shipped its ten millionth c.LINK™ chipset. Entropic’s c.LINK technology enables the creation of a whole home digital entertainment network using existing coax cabling.

c.LINK Award-winning Technology

Entropic’s c.LINK Home Networking products support the Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA™) standard 1.0 and 1.1 specifications for home networking over coax. The MoCA 1.1 Standard was selected by Electronic Design magazine as the Best Home Networking Technology of 2007. Earlier this year, Entropic announced the availability of the industry’s first MoCA 1.1 enabled chipsets.

Entropic’s c.LINK technology is also being deployed as a solution for high speed broadband access over coax cable services in geographies that employ “deep fiber” architectures.

“We are extremely pleased with the rapid adoption of our c.LINK home networking and broadband access technologies,” said Patrick Henry, Chief Executive Officer of Entropic Communications. “As a company, we are focused on delivering solutions for connected home entertainment. This achievement demonstrates the fact that service providers have embraced our c.LINK solution for the delivery of digital entertainment content into and throughout the home.”

Entropic’s c.LINK technology has been deployed by Verizon’s FiOS TV in the U.S. and Jupiter Communications (J:COM) in Japan. Additional operators around the globe are in field trials and early deployment of the technology. Actiontec, Alcatel, Browan, D-Link, Foxconn, Linksys, Jabil, Motorola, Mototech, Panasonic, Scientific Atlanta, Tellabs and Westell are among the companies integrating c.LINK into their various home networking or home access products.

The Solution for Home Entertainment Networking and High Speed Broadband Access

Entropic’s c.LINK home networking products are compliant with the MoCA standard and enable the creation of a whole home entertainment network for multiple streams of HD video and other digital entertainment over the existing coax infrastructure. No new wires or truck rolls are required. Therefore, it is a cost-effective and easy to adopt networking solution providing operators up to 175 Mbps throughput, 16 node support, parameterized Quality of Service and remote diagnostic capabilities. For consumers, c.LINK makes multi-room HDTV DVR, PC-to-TV content streaming, multi-room and online gaming, and extended wireless coverage possible.

Entropic’s c.LINK Access products enable high speed broadband access over existing coax cabling in geographies that deploy “deep fiber” architectures, known as fiber-to-the-node (FTTN) for single family units (SFUs) and fiber-to-the-building (FTTB) in multiple dwelling units (MDUs). c.LINK Access can be used for delivery of triple-play services of voice, video and high speed data, including high speed delivery of video downloads.
