Highly Integrated Solution with Minimal System Cost

LAS VEGAS, Nevada — Sunplus mMedia Inc., a multimedia IC design company of Sunplus group, today reveals its portable multimedia player (PMP) controller SPMP2900 with system reference design at booth #73454, Sands Expo, Las Vegas during CES2008. The SPMP2900 is a highly integrated silicon processor capable to support wide-ranged video formats and to offer superior audio experience, with at least 10% reduced system cost.

The SPMP2900, embedded with a 32-bits RISC processor and hardware video decoder, enables on-device playback of the most popular video formats in Web2.0 era, such as LV/AVI/MP4/3GP, up to QVGA@30fps. In addition to supporting MP3/WMA playback, the SPMP2900’s embedded audio codec with SNR up to 95dB also delivers exceptional hearing experience. Most important of all, SPMP2900 integrates on-chip battery charger, regulator and LCM/LCD panel support with others distinguishing features, which makes ODM/OEM capable to differentiate their PMP designs with a competitive price.

Meanwhile, Sunplus mMedia also displays SPMP3050 PMP platform for high-end applications. Because of its outstanding video/audio processing capability and powerful features like JPEG codec supporting CMOS image sensor up to 6M pixel, embedded 2D graphic engine, and NTSC/PAL TV output for plug-n-play, the SPMP3050 has been successfully adopted by more than 50 high-end PMP models.
