Alfredo Baptista, Portugal Telecom CTO, said: “Delivering live and video-on-demand content directly to mobile users just like on a TV was a daunting technical challenge, but thanks to strong support from Alcatel-Lucent and AuthenTec we were able to launch our new Meo Go! service on budget and ahead of schedule. Meo Go! significantly expands the number of subscribers we can reach.”

Nakhle Matta, CSO, Alcatel-Lucent Portugal, said: “Being one of the world’s leading Internet Protocol TV (IPTV) and multimedia services integrators with more than 60 successful IPTV projects around the world, we are uniquely positioned to extend Portugal Telecom’s IPTV offering to smartphones and tablets. This means that Portugal Telecom will be able to push its video content to millions of additional devices across the country, addressing its customers’ appetite for video services at home and on-the-go. AuthenTec proved to be an ideal collaborator. With their Digital Rights Management (DRM) solution and strong technical support, we are able to protect and deliver video content securely.”

Simon Blake-Wilson, Vice President of AuthenTec Embedded Security Solutions, said: “Our collaboration with Alcatel-Lucent and Portugal Telecom has resulted in a unique, multi-device programming offering that frees the mobile user from their PC or TV. There is growing demand by content providers to securely deliver their programming to mobile devices. Through our versatile DRM solution, which is now deployed in many millions of mobile phones and tablets, we were able to develop a robust and widely compatible security offering that makes the viewing experience seamless while keeping high-value program content very secure.”
