Leading Russian Provider of Content Services Selects VCAS for Internet TV to Support Secure Multi-Screen Delivery

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands — IBC 2012 — Verimatrix, the specialist in securing and enhancing revenue for multi-screen digital TV services around the globe, today announced that Russia’s TVzavr is securing its over-the-top (OTT) video-on-demand (VoD) service with the Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS™) for Internet TV. Moscow-based TVzavr is an online aggregator of professional video content that welcomes more than two million visitors per month, with a 60 percent return rate.

TVzavr boasts one of Russia’s most comprehensive VoD catalogs, making revenue security a critical consideration. The company delivers video to multiple consumer devices over unmanaged networks, mandating not only robust security for on-demand content, but also support for the HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) protocol for delivery to smart TVs, set top boxes (STBs) and iOS and Android-based tablets and devices.

“We conducted an extensive analysis of the various existing CAS/DRM systems on the market and ultimately chose the Verimatrix solution, in part because of its reputation of reliability, proven track record and mature partner ecosystem,” stated Alexander Belenov, general director of online cinema at TVzavr. “VCAS for Internet TV allows us to broadcast content in protected mode to a wide range of devices enabling our customers to create their own world of entertainment. Providing extra layers of protection into the standard HLS protocol is a critical differentiator to power our on-demand services.”

VCAS for Internet TV, a key option powered by the VCAS platform, addresses these requirements by providing a complete digital TV security solution for OTT services over networks implementing HLS. Featuring multi-format support, VCAS for Internet TV secures OTT services to multiple screens and across multiple network types, including both broadcast (linear) and VoD delivery modes.

“Maximizing the monetization of a compelling content bouquet across a multi-screen delivery environment can be a complex undertaking,” said Steve Oetegenn, chief sales and marketing officer at Verimatrix. “TVzavr recognized the importance of having a robust revenue security platform at the core of its multi-screen initiative. We look forward to working with the company to further extend its already strong value proposition by enabling new services and increasing quality of experience (QoE) for the subscriber.”

Verimatrix will be demonstrating its robust revenue security solutions at IBC 2012, RAI Amsterdam, 7-11 September 2012. Visit booth #4.B54 to see demos of how the VCAS™ architecture addresses current and future business and technical challenges.
