At the occasion of the IBC 2012, httv announces the implementation of its “httvBOX” STB turnkey solution on STMicroelectronics (NYSE: STM) new STB chipsets family STiH207 and its derivatives STiH237, STiH239 and STiH273. It will provide an advanced and cost effective solution for the pay-TV market. ST will showcase “httvBOX” on its booth during the show.

httvBox from httv is an embedded software solution for connected TVs and STBs available for all TV distribution platforms: from pure broadcast (DVB-T/T2/ S/S2/ C front-ends) to pure IP (IPTV, OTT) and hybrid, including both. Built on Linux, it supports a profile-driven user experience (e.g. parents versus children, with personalized Mosaics), non-linear TV services (e.g., VOD, catch-up TV and PushVOD), enhanced EPG, web browsing and multi-source media playback. The httvBOX is modular and scalable, from a single service OTT player to an advanced, hybrid PVR.

The interactivity of the solution is powered by HbbTV the fast growing European standard for Hybrid OTT services.

STMicroelectronics has launched in March 2012 a new family of System-On Chip for High Definition terrestrial, cable, satellite and IP equipments. With this new SOC platform, operators and retailers will be able to deliver cost effective STBs with innovative internet-based services for price-sensitive markets. This chipset family implement advanced security scheme such as NSK2 or NOCS3 to support the latest key CAS solutions required for PayTV markets.

With the httvBOX software implemented on this new range of chipsets manufacturers and operators will be able to launch powerful and cost effective as soon as mass production starts.

“We are excited to have implemented our feature full httvBox software on STMicroelectronics powerful and cost effective STiH207 Chipset family.” says Regis Saint Girons, httv’s CEO.
