Discretix Partners with Verimatrix on PlayReady® MultiScreen Content Protection

Discretix SecurePlayer™ and Verimatrix VCAS MultiRights Solution Extends PlayReady Service Protection to Android and iOS devices

AMSTERDAM, NL — RAI — IBC2012 — Discretix, the leading provider of embedded security and content protection solutions, today confirmed full interoperability between the Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS™) and the Discretix SecurePlayer™. Verimatrix is the specialist in securing and enhancing revenue for multi-screen digital TV services around the globe.

The partnership enables Verimatrix customers to support distribution of PlayReady protected streaming services to a wide range of platforms and devices, including for Android, Apple, PC and any device that supports Microsoft Silverlight. With Discretix SecurePlayer, Verimatrix customers can choose to deploy PlayReady using either Smooth Streaming or HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) protocols, complementing existing Verimatrix enhanced security HLS solutions.

The Discretix SecurePlayer is a downloadable content protection application that allows VOD to be delivered to the massive installed-base of Android and iOS tablets and smartphones, utilizing Microsoft PlayReady DRM. The SecurePlayer provides an easy to use API for application integration, allowing service providers to easily deploy their mobile applications with studio approved content protection. The solution utilizes advanced software security technologies including obfuscation, variability, renewability, trip wires and personalization in order to protect against content hacking and to ensure the required level of robustness.
