Accedo and Viaplay launch media service for Xbox in Nordic region
Thursday, December 20th, 2012STOCKHOLM — Accedo, the global market leader in TV application solutions, and Viaplay, the Nordic region’s leading online streaming service for TV, Movies and Sports, today announced the launch of Viaplay on Xbox.
This media app will launch on Xbox in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland. The new app delivers the popular Viaplay service to a new customer segment across the region, allowing them to access Viaplay’s content offering through the games console.
The Viaplay app for Xbox has built-in Kinect motion control, meaning users don’t need a remote control as they can select the content they want to watch simply by waving their hands. It also supports pausing, fast-forwarding and rewinding, all activated by body movement.
“We are excited to help Viaplay launch the Xbox app in the Nordic region, and to play a part in bringing the first media app to the games console,” commented Michael Lantz, CEO, Accedo.
“We are pleased to be rolling out our Viaplay service to Xbox users throughout the Nordic region,” commented Niclas Ekdahl, CEO, Viaplay. “Given the company’s experience, Accedo was a natural partner to help us achieve that.”
