CES 2008, LAS VEGAS — Morega Systems Inc., a software and systems vendor for premium content portability has partnered with ViXS Systems Inc., the leading silicon vendor of video processing solutions, to develop products targeted at Satellite, Cable and IPTV operators that will allow for the monetization and portability of premium video content between devices and across IP networks.

Morega will be demonstrating fully integrated digital video solutions at CES 2008 that will enable service operators to offer their consumers the ability to mobilize DVR content, including both place-shifting and video-to-go applications. Utilizing the transcoding capabilities of ViXS’ XCode™ 3290 System-on-a-Chip (SoC), the ViGO Portable™ platform will enable up to 10x accelerated real-time transfer of premium DVR content to portable media players and mobile phones via the USB interface of a STB/DVR. Operators and content owners will also be able to monetize on the DVR or portable content with real-time targeted, behavioural and contextual-based ad insertion using ViGO Ads™ advanced capabilities. ViGO Live™, Morega’s Place-shifting solution, will allow customers to stream premium DVR content both at home and on the road in real-time via mobile IP based devices. Morega’s ViGO DRM™ provides transcryption between industry standard DRM methods, ensuring plug-and-play usability across a wide range of media platforms.

“The STB is the home’s premium entertainment hub and with the increasing popularity of DVRs and portable media players, consumers are demanding that premium content be easily transportable and available on any device,” said Philip Poulidis, CEO of Morega. “In order to meet that demand and continually offer innovative services among a crowded competitive landscape, service operators, content owners and CE companies are looking for best-in-class solutions that can protect, monetize and mobilize premium video content. Morega’s industry standards based content portability and monetization solutions in combination with ViXS’ leading transcoding silicon, will offer the market a compelling solution.”

Sally Daub, President and CEO of ViXS Systems, commented: “ViXS is pleased to be working with Morega to offer a complete solution for this emerging market segment. We have seen significant interest for our transcoding silicon solution but many operators are interested in solving the premium video portability problem, particularly for tens of millions of legacy STB/DVRs already deployed in the market today. By integrating Morega’s software on ViXS’ new transcoding SoC, operators, OEMs and CE companies are able to offer low-cost solutions for the portability and place-shifting of premium video content across a breadth of media platforms.”

Morega’s premium content portability and monetization solutions and ViXS’ leading transcoding silicon will be showcased at CES 2008, in the ViXS booth (#36163), in South Hall 4 of the Las Vegas Convention Center. CES 2008 runs from January 7th, 2008 to January 10th, 2008 in Las Vegas, NV.
