Verimatrix Seamlessly Integrates with Hargray’s IPTV Platform as Part of its Quadruple-play Service
Las Vegas, 2008 International CES — Verimatrix, setting the standard in content security technologies that enhance the value of pay-TV networks, today announced that Hargray Communications has deployed the Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS™) for IPTV solution to secure broadcast and Video-on-Demand (VoD) content on its Broadband TV service. Hargray delivers wired and wireless telephone, high-speed Internet and cable and IP television services to 100,000 customers in Hilton Head Island and the surrounding areas of South Carolina and Georgia.
“As one of the pioneers of commercial IPTV services, we understand the importance of working with market leaders, in terms of technology and vision. Verimatrix’s content security solution and roadmap are critical in our deployment as we expand our Broadband TV services,” said Gerry Grayson, VP Engineering, Hargray Communications. “Our company and customers benefit from the flexibility Verimatrix provides through its software-based system and extensive partnership network. We appreciate working with a partner that delivers an advanced solution on time and on budget.”
Hargray is a telecom independent operating company (IOC) that provides voice, video, data, wireless, high-speed Internet, and directory publishing services. As the 22nd largest IOC in the United States, Hargray has been one of the leaders in IP services deployment with incredibly deep experience in the delivery of video to its subscriber base.
“Hargray is a great example of an innovative telco that is proving what IPTV can deliver today,” said Steve Oetegenn, chief sales and marketing office, Verimatrix. “By deploying VCAS, Hargray is able to offer a richer channel line-up and VoD content to its customers. We look forward to supporting Hargray as its service grows.”
VCAS for IPTV is an award-winning content security solution built on the principles of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and X.509 digital certificates. Traditional conditional access systems are architected around one-way communications, while Verimatrix has designed its solutions from the ground up using the power and integrity of modern two-way IP infrastructure. By leveraging cryptographic and e-commerce technologies proven on the Internet, VCAS offers a more sophisticated level of content protection than traditional smartcard-based systems.
