VCAS for Internet TV Integrated With ALFSTREAM for Hikari-TV Service

SINGAPORE — Marina Bay Sands, CommunicAsia 2013 — Verimatrix, the specialist in securing and enhancing revenue for multi-network, multi-screen digital TV services around the globe, today announced that NTT Plala, a major Japanese Internet service provider, will deploy the Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS™) to secure Hikari-TV for smartphones. Hikari-TV is the largest Internet TV service available in Japan, which encompasses 93 live coverage channels, more than 30,000 video on demand (VoD) titles and approximately 30,000 karaoke titles.

NTT Plala has been looking for a solidly made and highly efficient security solution to be able to offer a larger variety of movie titles (including Hollywood movies) than ever on Hikari-TV for smartphones.

VCAS for Internet TV solution has been seamlessly integrated with ALFSTREAM hosted/cloud head-end solution offered by Alfredcore, a Japanese cloud computing system provider. Verimatrix and Alfredcore are proud to provide comprehensive multi-screen security for the exciting new service offering of Hikari-TV. As a leading video solution company, Alfredcore has extensive experience and knowledge in pay-TV business development, system integration and application development that was instrumental to the success of the NTT Plala Hikari-TV for smartphones offering. Using VCAS for Internet TV with the ALFSTREAM head-end, NTT Plala is able to offer a flexible range of business models within a robust security architecture, which also helps to improve the subscribers’ quality of experience (QoE).
