XCode™ 3106 enables fast and easy conversion of videos for Portable Media Players

TORONTO — ViXS Systems Inc., a leading developer of video processing solutions, today announced that Lumanate, an award-winning PC multimedia innovator and design house, will use the ViXS XCode™ 3106, the most advanced MPEG4 AVC (MPEG4 Part 10/H.264) Transcoder/Encoder chipset available today, to provide hardware transcoding in its new line of Lazer PC multimedia acceleration cards. By building XCode™ 3106 Series technology into its next generation of media acceleration cards, consumers will experience up to 10x real-time transcoding speeds of their video content for devices such as the iPod, iPhone™, AppleTV™, PS3™, PSP™, XBox360, Zune™, Zen™ and others. The XCode™ 3106 supports transcoding of both HD and SD content into MPEG4 AVC, MPEG2, MPEG4 Part 2 and VC-1/WM9 video formats. With ViXS and Lumanate technology working together, consumers with Media Center PCs will ultimately get more enjoyment out of their video content by quickly and easily getting it transferred onto their favorite Portable Media Players (PMP).

Using the ViXS XCode™ 3106 video processor, Lumanate’s multimedia acceleration cards will quickly and easily convert and compress live video and archived video content on a PC and allow for authoring, burning and exporting to a wide range of high-volume shipping PMPs. Lazer acceleration cards provide consumers with an easy and convenient way to prepare their videos for uploading to the internet and are also the ideal solution for Windows Media Center Edition (MCE) users to transcode Media Center formatted files (DVR-MS format files) into their desired video format.

While the Lazer product line is doing high-speed video transcoding with the XCode™ 3106 it will offload PC CPU resources so they can be allocated to other software applications resulting in a more stable and robust computing environment. The XCode™ 3106 will allow transcoding of content to a lower bitrate, lower resolution and a different video format to support the many needs of various storage and PMP devices. XCode™ 3106 Series features and capabilities built into the Lazer family of acceleration cards are shown below.
