Amino Communications (AIM: AMO) has secured a contract to provide HD set-top boxes to Ace Communications, the Minnesota-based telecommunications provider.

With over 25,000 access lines, Ace delivers a range of phone, broadband and IPTV services to communities in Michigan, Iowa and Minnesota. A previous Amino customer for its initial IPTV rollout, Ace has returned to the company for the next phase of its deployment which will use both the A140 single stream and A540 devices to support “whole home DVR” services.

Amino Chief Executive Officer Donald McGarva said: “We are always pleased to welcome back valued customers and our renewed relationship with Ace Communications underlines the progress we are making in the North American market. Our combination of quality, reliable and high performance devices – backed up by expert technical support – is helping us secure both new and returning business.”

Ace Communications Network Operations Manager Ethan Webinger said: “Our customers demand very good quality services and we were impressed by Amino’s ability to match both our specific technical requirements but also the reassurance that high reliability gives us in reducing operating and “truck roll” costs.”

The roots of the Ace Communications Group go back to the late 1940s when a group of farmers in rural south eastern Minnesota joined together to address the inadequate telephone service in the area. With upwards of 30 people sharing a “party line”, the group formed a member-owned co-operative to improve services, which over time have evolved to include telephony, broadband, IPTV, wireless and home security and surveillance. With the same community-oriented model still in place, the Houston, MN-headquartered group now serves an extensive area encompassing communities in Michigan, Iowa and Minnesota.
