London, UK — Strategy & Technology Limited (S&T), specialists in interactive TV playout systems and MHEG middleware, has announced that Zinwell, Taiwan-based set-top box and digital tuner module supplier, has licensed the company’s RedKey™ MHEG engine through S&T Client Systems Ltd – the digital TV receiver software licensing subsidiary of S&T.

Founded in 1979, Zinwell focuses on the development of high quality, reliable and flexible receiver solutions for broadcasters and telcos on a global basis. It also supplies to retail markets. It is now designing products that incorporate S&T’s RedKey MHEG engine in order to supply to existing and future MHEG-5 markets.

“We have chosen S&T because of its track record in the interactive market and its proven approach. RedKey is 100 per cent compliant with UK DTG MHEG-5 Profile 1.06 and that is clearly vital. It is cost-effective and also provides a powerful EPG,” explains Steve Peng, Sales Specialist with Zinwell.

MHEG-5 is an interactive middleware standard and system specifically designed for digital TV. It is low cost to deploy and to operate and, since it uses international standards, can be provided by a number of competing suppliers, especially of receiver equipment.

“Once again it is pleasing that our technological expertise has been recognised. RedKey allows receiver suppliers to get to market quickly and efficiently thereby helping to facilitate a swift route to profitability,” explains Paul Daly, S&T General Manager – Client Systems.
