NTT and NEC launch real time 4K/60P HEVC encoder

JAPAN — Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) and NEC Corporation have announced the launch of the industry’s first real time 4K/60P (3,840×2,160) High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) encoder.

Shipments of the VC-8150 unit are planned for April of this year.

An equivalent decoder, the VD-8100, will also be available at the same time.
