Wowza® and Intel® Team Up to Deliver Powerful Video Streaming as part of Intel® INDE

  • Native Integration within Media Pack Enables Android Developers to Deliver In-App Video Streaming Out of the Box

BARCELONA — MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS — Wowza® Media Systems, LLC, the leading provider of Simply Powerful Streaming™ today announced Intel Corporation (Nasdaq: INTC) has chosen Wowza software to enable media streaming capabilities as part of the new Intel® Integrated Native Developer Experience beta (Intel® INDE). Recently named a new Intel Software Premier Elite Partner, the highest level of the Intel Software Partner Program, Wowza enables Android developers to easily embed in-app video streaming capabilities with the confidence of seamless, out-of-the-box compatibility within Intel INDE to eliminate trial-and-error, shorten development time and speed time to market.

Intel announced the upcoming availability of Intel INDE today at Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona. Designed to increase productivity throughout the development chain, Intel INDE provides a range of components that enable developers to create, compile, debug, analyze and ship apps on Android and Windows platforms. The Intel solution resolves one of the key challenges Android developers often face: while the operating system is revered for its unrestricted, non-proprietary architecture, its flexibility can be a double-edged sword because limited software and integration standards exist to ensure component compatibility.

The Intel® INDE Media Pack for Android* enables developers to create visually compelling native video and audio extensions for Android mobile apps that include integrated video streaming, screen sharing, video capturing and editing, and audio fingerprinting. Wowza provides customizable, scalable software that reduces the complexity of the streaming media workflow to deliver high-quality live and on-demand video and audio to any device. Wowza software is trusted by companies in more than 150 countries, including many of the Fortune 500 and nearly half of the most popular content delivery networks in the world.

“The Wowza integration within the INDE Media Pack gives Android developers a drop-dead easy streaming solution that’s proven compatible and capable of reliably delivering outstanding audio and video quality on any device right out of the box,” said Wowza CEO and co-founder David Stubenvoll. “We’re excited to continue our work with Intel to deliver forward-thinking solutions that drive innovation and provide the future-proof streaming technology the market demands.”

“Our Intel® INDE Media Pack provides a complete suite of video and audio libraries to help developers maximize productivity and deliver compelling, rich media experiences with native performance,” said Jeff McVeigh, GM of Performance Client and Visual Computing Software Development Tools. “We are excited to be working with Wowza to provide developers with a robust solution to meet the growing demand for easy streaming media integration.”

The Intel INDE productivity suite will be available as a beta pre-release in early Q1. To see Wowza in action, the demo can be seen this week in Intel’s booth at Mobile World Congress, located in Hall 8.1 (a.k.a “Hall App Planet”), Stand 81E41.
