MOSCOW — According to Digit.ru and confirmed by NVision, Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) has signed an agreement for the purchase of a hybrid TV solution from Ericsson. The system will form a common platform for all of MTS’ pay TV services including satellite TV, cable TV, IPTV, OTT and mobile TV as well as interactive services such as time-shifted viewing, video-on-demand and catch-up TV.

The system will be launched initially on the MGTS network in Moscow in the summer of 2014, and within two years will be rolled out to the 160 cities of the MTS TV network in Russia. According to Digit.ru’s source, the first contract phase, valued at about 400 million roubles (~USD 11 million), covers the implementation of the platform in the first 15 Russian cities.
