California System Represents Ninth Skitter IPTV Deployment

ATLANTA — Skitter Inc., an Atlanta, Ga. based leading provider of converged media services over broadband and IP networks, announced today that it has launched another Skitter TV converged IPTV platform to deliver next generation TV services to customers of Sierra Telephone of Oakhurst, California. With its system at Sierra Telephone, Skitter now counts nine IPTV deployments across eight states, with more than a dozen systems in development.

Offering telecommunications services for over 100 years, Sierra Telephone provides broadband, telephone, business services and now IPTV services across a 775 square mile serving area in the beautiful central Sierra Nevada mountains, just south of Yosemite National Park.

Sierra Telephone is representative of Skitter’s primary market focus, which builds and operates turnkey IPTV and cable systems co-located at smaller broadband service providers, typically in rural markets. Smaller service providers who lack scale and video expertise turn to Skitter for the launch and operation of a profitable video business unit.

“We’ve had tremendous growth during the past year,” said Skitter CEO Bob Saunders. “At the beginning of 3Q 2013, we had just one operating IPTV system and today we have nine.”

With more than a dozen additional systems in various stages of deployment, Skitter has tremendous IPTV momentum and expects to have thirty IPTV systems in operation by the end of 2014. This growth is fueled by Skitter’s ability to deliver a full channel line-up to subscribers, saving its telco partners from the complex and expensive content acquisition process, and with a minimal CAPEX requirement, helping to ensure a profitable video service.

“We always felt we had the right formula and once our systems were successfully launched and operating at companies like Kingdom Telephone in Missouri and at Alhambra-Grantfork in Illinois last year, our business model and approach was validated.” Saunders said. “We are launching full IPTV systems for about one-quarter the cost of historical IPTV systems which is helping Skitter achieve significant growth and momentum.”
