LAS VEGAS, NV and EVERGREEN, CO — NAB Show 2014 — Wowza® Media Systems, LLC, provider of Simply Powerful Streaming™ media server software, today announced the release of Wowza GoCoder™ app for Android devices bringing live, high definition (HD) mobile encoding to Android users on the go. Created to power simple, efficient streaming over Wifi, 3G and 4G networks on Android devices 4.1 and newer, the live audio and video encoding application directly connects with Wowza Streaming Engine™ software enabling content providers to easily capture, manage and deliver content from anywhere, at any time.

Now, Wowza GoCoder app is available on both iOS and Android mobile devices, bringing access to simple, uninterrupted video streaming to the majority of smartphone users. According to recent research from International Data Corporation (IDC), nearly 94 percent of smartphones shipped worldwide in 2013 were running on Android or iOS operating systems and Android commanded the market share with more than 78 percent of smartphones using Android. Using Wowza GoCoder as part of an end-to-end system with Wowza Streaming Engine™ software, users can broadcast and encode live events from any location to any screen.
