TalkTalk has today announced a deal with FilmFlex Movies Ltd to bring its customers hundreds more movies on demand, with even more new releases available to rent on the same day as DVD.

The multi-year deal kicks off with immediate effect and will offer subscribers to both TalkTalk’s Essentials TV and Plus TV packages, access to hundreds of brand new on demand movies.

TalkTalk’s YouView customers will also benefit from a wider range of films, with first-run on demand content from all the major Hollywood studios, plus leading independents such as Entertainment One Films and StudioCanal, as well as a wealth of specialist distributors.

New titles coming to TalkTalk as part of the deal include Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, 12 Years a Slave, Dallas Buyers Club and American Hustle. This builds on new releases such as Frozen, Saving Mr. Banks and Philomena, currently available on TalkTalk Box Office.

New releases can be rented for 48 hours and future developments, as part of the FilmFlex partnership, will include the ability for TalkTalk customers to watch their rentals on a range of devices including mobile phones and tablets.

“YouView from TalkTalk is Britain’s fastest growing TV business and is fast becoming a destination for family entertainment,” commented Tristia Harrison, Managing Director TalkTalk Consumer.

“We have big ambitions for the service and continue to develop and enhance our offering to give our customers even more of the TV and films they love, all at a great TalkTalk price. This partnership with the movie specialist expertise of FilmFlex will help take us to the next level and gives our TV customers even more of the best content.”

FilmFlex, one of the most successful movies on demand providers in Europe, will be responsible for sourcing and curating film content, as well as supplying technology for customers to watch films on mobile devices.

Jeff Henry, Chief Executive Officer at FilmFlex added: “This landmark deal enhances our position as the white-label provider of choice to the leading media and telecoms brands in the UK. We work with ambitious, growing companies like TalkTalk to bring the latest movies to the widest possible audience. The key factors in our success to date have been our strong relationships with our brand partners and content owners coupled with our continued investment in our technical platform.”

The news builds on TalkTalk’s announcement of the addition of seven Sky entertainment channels to its Plus TV package, from 5 April.

YouView from TalkTalk secured over 730,000 customers in just over 12 months. Customers can dip in and out of their favourite shows and movies through flexible monthly Boosts starting from just £5 a month as well as accessing the latest releases through TalkTalk Box Office.
