Over 1m TV customers at 12 May 2014; fastest growing TV business in the UK

TalkTalk Group plc has released its preliminary results for the 12 months to 31 March 2014 (FY14).

Q4 Business Review

We added 185,000 net new customers to our TV base (Q3: 175,000), with a third of these customers new to TalkTalk, taking our total base of TV customers at 31st March to 917,000 and to over 1m at 12th May. Demand accelerated with self-install and our Essentials proposition both gaining traction against the backdrop of continuing strong demand for Plus TV.

Penetration of TVOD (pay per view movies) and content boosts remained strong during the quarter. TVOD volume of 228k was up by over 15% on Q3 and over 21% of TV customers chose to purchase boost content. We remain encouraged by the overall level of pay content take-up and its implications for incremental revenue growth in the future.

FY14 Business Review

We added 687,000 customers to our fast growing YouView TV base during the year, more than all the other UK TV operators combined. The rate of additions accelerated through the year as awareness of our proposition grew. During Q3 we launched and began gradually to scale our Essentials TV proposition, expanding the addressable market for our triple play product. Accordingly we have seen an increase in the number of new customers coming to TalkTalk, with a third of TV connections new to TalkTalk.
