MobiTV and Amlogic Team Up to Power Robust HDMI Dongle

  • White-Label Solution Provides Operators with Enhanced TV Everywhere Experience

EMERYVILLE, Calif. — MobiTV, a global leader in enabling delivery of live and on-demand TV everywhere, today announced its strategic collaboration with Amlogic to provide the chipset for MobiTV’s streaming stick solution. The powerful and efficient Amlogic chipset will be the foundation of the white-labeled multiscreen service that brings a fully integrated experience to users.

Secure delivery of high-value content is essential to services powered by MobiTV’s Connected Media Platform. This integration with Amlogic’s AML8726-MX system on chip (SoC) chipset solidifies a secure, multiscreen experience for viewers. The AML8726-MX includes full 1080p high-definition video capabilities that enable operators to bring next-generation TV Everywhere offerings to the connected home at a cost-effective price point and also produces world-class performance for full gaming and other processor-intensive in-home services.

“A significant point of differentiation for the MobiTV® Connect streaming stick is that it is distributed to consumers under our operator customer brands, and is integrated with their billing and current product offerings,” said Charlie Nooney, CEO at MobiTV. “Our partnership with Amlogic encourages a more powerful, full-service offering to wireless operators that is both low-cost and able to reach customers on a variety of screens, including full HD content to the big screen in the home.”

The white-label streaming stick will offer numerous benefits to help wireless, IPTV, OTT and SDL broadband operators remain competitive in a crowded and growing industry. The device will allow customers to leverage existing networks and multi-service product bundles for immediate in-home deployment—without significant asset or operational investment. At the same time, Amlogic’s powerful chipset provides a hardware backbone for compelling operator services in the home.

“The collaboration with MobiTV marks a significant step in the proliferation of TV Everywhere services,” said John Zhong, CEO at Amlogic. “Our many years of experience in providing advanced application processors to customer markets with our multimedia processing engine and system architecture—combined with MobiTV’s expertise in content delivery and software development—have enabled us to bring a secure, robust white-label streaming stick solution to market that well-established companies and ultimately consumers can leverage.”
