Time Warner Cable Rolls Out Enhanced DVR as Next Step in Transforming the Customer Experience

  • New DVR Provides Vast Storage and Virtually Eliminates Recording Conflicts by Recording up to 6 Shows At Once: Now Available in New York City and Los Angeles

Time Warner Cable (TWC) today announced the launch of Enhanced DVR, an advanced set-top box with dramatically improved DVR features and capacity, in New York City and Los Angeles. Enhanced DVR customers can simultaneously record up to six different programs and enjoy up to six times more storage than their current DVR, with the ability to save 150 hours of high-definition (HD) programming on its 1-terabyte (1,000 gigabytes) hard drive. Consumers with Enhanced DVR can watch, pause, rewind and fast-forward DVR shows recorded on the Enhanced DVR on up to four other HD set-top boxes in the home.

“DVR customers are passionate about watching what they want, when they want. Our new Enhanced DVR transforms our customers’ TV experience by allowing them to record all their favorite shows at once and store a vast library of programming,” said Peter Stern, Time Warner Cable EVP, Chief Product, People & Strategy Officer. “Enhanced DVR is just the latest highlight for our customers in the nation’s two largest cities. By the end of this year, customers throughout New York City and Los Angeles will have access to Internet speeds up to 300 Mbps; all-digital TV with the most HD channels of any local provider; and a graphically rich programming guide with up to 39,000 hours of On Demand content choices — all backed with rock-solid reliability.”

Earlier this year, TWC began implementing major enhancements to its network, enabling this transformation of the customer experience. TWC’s investments in these next-generation experiences are under way in Los Angeles and New York City and have recently extended to Austin, Texas. These exciting changes will extend to the following locations in 2015: Charlotte, N.C., Dallas; Hawaii; Kansas City; Raleigh, N.C.; San Antonio and San Diego.
