Beltelecom continues to expand the area of digital terrestrial television broadcasting

The residents of Baranovichy and Baranovichy district, Lyakhavichy and Lyakhavichy district of Brest region, as well as the residents of Karelichy and Karelichy district of Grodno region can connect to the basic package Standard TV and appreciate the advantages of digital terrestrial television.

The basic package Standard TV of digital terrestrial television ZALA includes 18 popular channels to satisfy every taste (channels for children, educational channels, channels for entertainment, sports channels). Subscribers also get an opportunity to view 8 republican channels broadcasted in an open format in the entire territory of Belarus for free.

In addition to the basic package of programs, for subscribers of certain areas of Belarus several additional packages are available:

  • Detskiy
  • Dlia Dushi
  • Filmoviy
  • Poznavatelno-razvlekatelniy

The maximum number of channels available to subscribers with the additional packages can be increased up to 44.

Until the end of 2014 it is planned to ensure the broadcasting of thematic packages of programs within the range of radio and television broadcasting stations already broadcasting programs of basic package Standard TV in the territory of the Republic of Belarus. Thus, the planned coverage area of TV broadcasting taking into account thematic packages will have been about 50% by the end of 2014.

Active network expansion is one of the priorities of RUE Beltelecom. In 2015 our company expects to increase the terrestrial television broadcasting in the territory of the country up to 80%.

Last year 25 digital transmitters were installed, and until the end of 2014 their number has increased up to 107. More than 70 digital transmitters are to be installed in 2015, which will cover up to 80% of the country with commercial terrestrial television.

DVB-T2 standard is used while implementing the project on commercial terrestrial television. When using the same radio-frequency resource the application of this standard gives an opportunity to significantly increase the amount of information transmitted. A user receives a package of 18 TV programs broadcasted by one transmitter instead of 8-10 programs provided by standard DVB-T.

The joint project on the introduction of commercial broadcasting television between Beltelecom and RUE Belarusian Broadcasting Center was launched in October 2013. Today it covers more than 40% of the territory of Belarus, and more than 39 thousand subscribers use this service.
