Yahlive and Alef technology join forces with SVS

ABU DHABI, UAE — Yahlive, Alef Technology and SVS Satellite Systems announced their collaboration by which SVS will design and integrate a new DTH platform based in Kabul, Afghanistan. The DTH platform will be operated by Alef Technology and will consist of a BSS RF and baseband system, supporting the transmission of SD and HD television channels over the Yahsat 1A satellite at 52.5 degrees East. This strategic partnership is expected to support Alef Technology in delivering uplink services for channels exclusively to Yahlive and boost the DTH platform services available to Yahlive from Afghanistan. The platform is also capable of supporting multi-transponders with indoor rack-mounted electronics including SVS’s own Dynamic NMS network monitor and control system.

Commenting on the announcement, Magnus Simons, Senior Director of Business Development at Yahlive, said “We are pleased to have found a collective uplink solution in Afghanistan, enabling better signal quality for the Afghani broadcasters, which previously used just a single carrier per channel (SCPC) to uplink their channels. The solution has been welcomed by our customers, which will not only provide the terrestrial stations with a strong signal but also provide an excellent signal to all households wanting to receive a great DTH offering.”

Magnus also added: “Our East beam is now offering close to a hundred channels with about half of them in Dari and Farsi language. This is testament that Yahlive is rapidly becoming the satellite of choice for the Farsi and Dari speaking viewers. Additionally, the uplink solution will boost broadcasters’ confidence that Yahlive is committed to provide the best solutions to its customers, by being on the ground and maintaining a close dialogue with its customers.

Andrew Kaszubski, CEO of Alef Technology, says, “Alef Technology have been at the forefront in data center and production services in Afghanistan for over 10 years. Aligned to our ambitions to improve the technological gateway and infrastructure in Afghanistan, our expansion plan for 2014-15 is focused on widening our offering with new products and solutions. Over recent years, we have been in various discussions with Yahlive, and are truly excited at the prospect of our strategic partnership with Yahlive and SVS, both leaders in their offering. This strategic partnership will help to bring a new level of connectivity solutions and comprehensive coverage to customers in the region. The new teleport will enable us to offer existing and new customers enhanced services, complimenting Alef’s current portfolio.”

Abdullah Saglam, General Manager of SVS, also said: “I’m looking forward to our long-term collaboration with both Alef Technology and Yahlive, and to support their operations. We are delighted to be able to strengthen and to continue supplying DTH earth stations in the Middle East for various Satellite operators”.
