Malawi looking to pre-qualify DVB-T2 set-top distributors
Sunday, March 15th, 2015BLANTYRE — As part of its Digital Broadcasting Migration Project, Malawi’s Ministry of Information, Tourism and Culture has announced that it intends to pre-qualify potential authorised distributors of DVB-T2 compliant set-top boxes (STBs) in the country.
The Ministry is inviting suitably qualified distributors to apply to carry out the acquisition and distribution of DVB-T2 compliant STBs. Interested distributors must provide information indicating that they are qualified for the assignment by Wednesday 25th March, 2015.
Malawi has adopted DVB-T2 with MPEG-4 compression as its national standard, and is targeting to migrate from analogue to digital terrestrial television broadcasting by the ITU-defined date of 17th June, 2015.
