iWedia Integrates Tuxera’s Streaming Technology With Its Linux-Based Teatro-3.0 STB Software Solution

LAUSANNE, Switzerland — iWedia, a leading provider of software solutions for TV devices to service operators and Consumer Electronics manufacturers, today announced that it has integrated its Linux-based Teatro-3.0 Set-Top Box (STB) software solution for IP-connected zappers with the AllConnect streaming technology of Helsinki-based Tuxera, the market leader in embedded file systems, network storage and streaming technologies.

The announcement was made to coincide with the opening of IBC 2015 which is held in Amsterdam from Friday, September 11th through to Tuesday, September 15th. iWedia exhibits at the show (hall 5, booth B40) where it will demonstrate the integrated solution.

Tuxera AllConnect lets the user take full control of the connected home and share music, photos, videos, movies and TV shows to any screen. It can be easily integrated into any hardware or software and is the only solution to the market compatible with all smart TVs and STBs including Apple TV, Android TV, Fire TV and Roku. Tuxera AllConnect provides multiscreen apps and SDKs for Linux, Android and iOS.

Teatro-3.0, a STB software solution for IP-connected zappers, is based on Linux with a User Interface built in HTML/CSS that uses specific JavaScript APIs allowing access to digital TV features. The solution features DLNA (player and renderer), access to “walled garden” Web and OTT video services (CE-HTML portals, HbbTV applications), as well as Personal Video Recorder and Time Shift Buffer.

AllConnect App discovers and dialogs with the DLNA Digital Media Renderer (DMR) embedded in Teatro-3.0. The app then streams any content chosen by the user e.g., a YouTube video to Teatro-3.0 media player.

“This integration illustrates a simple way to bring Internet video content to the main screen through a companion device,” says Hervé Creff, VP Marketing at iWedia. “Thanks to the DLNA DMR supported by our Teatro-3.0 STB software solution, Tuxera AllConnect allows any phone or tablet to stream any content to the STB”.

“Our cooperation with iWedia showcases how versatile and user-friendly AllConnect is,” says Claudio Camacho, Director of Business Development at Tuxera. “It enables any device to swiftly share Internet video and other online content to a STB powered by iWedia Teatro-3.0 software solution”.
