Canal+ Group Joins The OTT Revolution With Anevia

PARIS — Anevia, a leader in software infrastructure for live and video-on-demand (VoD) multi-screen streaming, announces that Canal+ Group, the leading pay television group in France, has reaffirmed its confidence in ViaMotion by Anevia for the development of the Over-The-Top services for its next-generation decoder, Cube S.

The latest innovation of Canal+ Group, introduced on 9 June, CUBE S is a hybrid Internet and DTT box that is 100% WiFi-powered, 100% HD and portable and offers subscribers the full quality of the Canal+ experience in over-the-top mode.

Open Internet

This decoder allows customers to enjoy their subscription at home or away, with a simple WiFi connection. It’s that easy. All the Group’s channels are available in High Definition, on the screen of their choice, no matter where they are in France. All this and services too: with catchup already available and start-over features available very soon, subscribers can take control of live viewing, start a current programme over from the beginning, or go back eight hours in the programme guide.

Viamotion at the heart of Cube S

To assist with the OTT upgrade to its infrastructure, Canal+ Group has renewed its trust in Viamotion solutions, which are already used in the MyCanal service. Both services benefit from Adaptive Streaming technologies that adjust a video stream’s image quality to the available bandwidth. Finally, Cube S has become HEVC-ready through ViaMotion’s support of the latest generation of data compression standards, H.265 HEVC (High Efficiency Video Encoding).

“We are delighted to have taken part in the speedy development of an ambitious OTT service that will unquestionably revolutionize usage,” added Damien Lucas, CTO and co-founder of Anevia. “Anevia is an essential player in the deployment of OTT infrastructure, which operators need in order to enhance their subscribers’ multi-screen experience.”
