Kaltura and Harmonic Partner to Deliver New SaaS Platform for Fast Launch of ‘Live to OTT’ Services

  • Kaltura Integrates Harmonic VOS™ 360 Cloud Media Processing Service With Its OTT TV Video Cloud Content Management System

NEW YORK, NY — Kaltura, the leading video technology provider, and Harmonic, the worldwide leader in video delivery infrastructure, today announced that the companies have partnered to deliver a software as a service (SaaS) platform that lets OTT players quickly launch ‘Live to OTT’, as well as VOD and time-shifted services.

Kaltura has integrated Harmonic’s new VOS™ 360 professional cloud media processing service with its OTT video platform to provide a complete, flexible cloud OTT platform that can be run over various public and private clouds. The joint solution paves the way for easier, cost-effective deployments of live video.

The integrated SaaS platform also gives OTT players a comprehensive solution that can address all video management and service aspects, primarily when they are looking for ‘glass to glass’ service, including full flexibility to manage their services, and deploy new services quickly. The service’s ‘pay as you go’ model also enables customers to start small and grow over time.

Harmonic’s VOS 360 service lets users launch a new broadcast-quality OTT service in hours, instead of months. The turnkey ecosystem makes it easy to contribute, transcode, package, scramble and deliver live SD, HD content to all connected devices. Kaltura’s OTT TV solution provides a highly scalable, cost-effective platform that enables OTT players to monetize their content while providing an engaging experience.

“We are seeing a growing number of content owners, TV networks, publishers and service providers asking for a flexible SaaS platform that will allow them to manage their entire OTT service — high quality live/linear OTT channels. This integration with Harmonic means that we can jointly offer a complete cloud-based platform that does just this — and can be run on a variety of different cloud environments,” commented Ron Yekutiel, Kaltura Co-founder, Chairman and CEO.

“In the past, OTT players had to compromise on either the level of video quality or their CAPEX investment. OTT players now have a complete cloud solution to meet their OTT needs without compromising the quality of experience. The result is a faster time to market for both live/linear, VOD and time-shifted OTT TV services, underpinned by a highly flexible and scalable SaaS platform,” added Patrick Harshman, President and CEO at Harmonic.
