Totalplay Selects Verimatrix as Its Next-Generation Revenue Security Partner

  • VCAS Platform Provides Scalability and Flexibility to Meet Short- and Long-Term Security Objectives

AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands — IBC 2016 (Booth #5.A59) — Verimatrix, the specialist in securing and enhancing revenue for multi-network, multi-screen digital TV services around the globe, today announced that Totalplay has selected the Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS™) platform to align with its network upgrade roadmap, which includes securing its On Demand service and supporting its IPTV and 4K/HEVC expansion plans. Totalplay, a Grupo Salinas company that provides the most innovative triple-play service through the fastest network of direct-to-home fiber optics, has already announced execution of aggressive expansion plans for its over-the-top (OTT) and IPTV platforms throughout Mexico.

Totalplay offers more than 260 channels on-demand and now Gamefly, a new video game streaming service with over 30 video games that supports most major controls. Totalplay has also expanded its IPTV platform to reach a broader area for its subscribers to access premium content over any mobile or fixed device via a new cloud-based, IP-centric Anytime Tv™ service. The operator has also announced a 4K, HEVC-compliant TV service available on a new ultra HD (UHD) set-top box, a first in Latin America.

“Without a doubt, Verimatrix is the leader in deploying trusted revenue security solutions in the industry,” said Victor Teuhtli Estrada, product director at Totalplay. “We selected Verimatrix as our security partner because they uniquely understand, and are able to support, our go-to-market strategies. They have addressed our immediate security needs, and they offer a flexible and scalable platform that can grow with us.”

The VCAS™ architecture provides the security infrastructure, tools and support for Totalplay’s network plans. It combines a number of network-specific security solutions built on a common platform. Totalplay has deployed VCAS™ for Internet TV, which provides a complete multi-screen security solution for OTT services over networks implementing the HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) protocol, including live (broadcast) and on-demand delivery. The operator has also deployed VCAS™ for IPTV for better flexibility in securing its expanded IPTV network. Future plans include upgrading to VCAS Ultra™ to meet the security requirements to deliver UHD content.

“Totalplay represents an innovative next-generation video operator that recognizes the power of a partner ecosystem to help enable long-term growth,” said Steve Oetegenn, president of Verimatrix. “Our VCAS revenue security platform is based on cardless client security and integrates the best embedded security subsystems in order to provide robust and renewable security measures to meet today’s and tomorrow’s security requirements.”
As Verimatrix’s channel partner for the Latin American region, Globetek Media LLC was instrumental in developing the Totalplay relationship.
