COSMOTE TV continues its dynamic growth, reaching 500 thousand subscribers and offering a comprehensive and high-quality TV program along with interactive and on the go services.

“In 2016, a challenging year, COSMOTE TV sustained its growth. With an already strong portfolio, we continued investing in new content and introduced cutting-edge technology services, responding to our subscribers’ need for personalized TV services. In 2017, as the market matures, we will keep our focus on new services and customer experience” said COSMOTE TV Executive Director Mr. Dimitris Michalakis.

In 2016, COSMOTE TV was the first to introduce hybrid technology, providing new generation TV services. By connecting their decoder to the Internet, subscribers can turn back time (COSMOTE Replay TV), watch programs on demand (COSMOTE Cinema on Demand & COSMOTE TV Plus), record shows on an external hard drive (PVR) and watch TV via their smartphone, tablet or PC/laptop (COSMOTE TV GO).

More than 250 thousand subscribers have already migrated to hybrid services and their number keeps growing.

New movies, series, sports content & documentaries

With over 90 digital channels, 32 of which are in high definition, COSMOTE TV continued to invest in new content in 2016.

With regard to movies, COSMOTE TV reached an agreement with Walt Disney Studios and Paramount Pictures ensuring the rights for exclusive movie premieres, as well as the rights to broadcast the OSCAR Academy Awards for the next 3 years. These agreements are an addition to the existing exclusive partnerships with leading Hollywood studios (NBCUniversal, MGM) and independent production companies. COSMOTE TV’s 8 TV channels broadcast more than 500 movie premieres and 100 foreign series every year. Via the COSMOTE TV PLUS service, subscribers have access to COSMOTE CINEMA movies & series and COSMOTE HISTORY documentaries, any time and without extra charge.

In sports, COSMOTE TV continued to cover top sporting events in football (UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, European Qualifiers, European Championships, Greek Cup), basketball (NBA, home games of Olympiacos BC and AEK BC for STOIXIMAN.GR Basket League, ACB Spanish Liga, Italian Lega Basket), motorsport (Formula1, MotoGP, WRC) and tennis (ΑΤP World Tour Finals, ATP World Tour Masters 1000, ΑΤP World Tour 500). In total, COSMOTE SPORT channels hosted more than 8,000 hours of live broadcasting in 2016.

COSMOTE TV has also presented COSMOTE HISTORY, the only documentary channel in Greek TV focusing on Greek History and Culture. Within a year, more than 750 films and documentary series have been broadcasted, in cooperation with more than 200 distributors and producers from Greece and abroad, while it has also presented new shows with original themes, produced by COSMOTE TV, and several co-productions. COSMOTE HISTORY is already COSMOTE TV’s most popular documentary channel.

2017, the year of customer experience

Among others, the multi-room service will be launched for subscribers via satellite (providing the option of viewing multiple channels on more TVs), while existing services will be enriched with new applications (WiFi connectivity for COSMOTE TV decoders, companion device applications for tablets & smartphones).

Furthermore, more new original documentaries are coming to COSMOTE HISTORY, produced by COSMOTE TV.
