PALO ALTO, CA and WALTHAM, MA — The Wurl TV Network and Zixi today announced a partnership to use Zixi’s revolutionary streaming platform to distribute Wurl’s TV programming to cable and OTT video services. The partnership with Zixi will expand Wurl’s ability to use the Internet for secure, scalable, broadcast-quality delivery of its linear TV channels.
The Wurl TV network delivers a growing collection of TV channels to numerous video services. Rather than use expensive satellite transponders and dedicated fiber-optic links to distribute its channels, Zixi’s cloud distribution platform allows Wurl to simultaneously deliver an unlimited number of live linear channels to an unlimited number of video services via the Internet.
“By partnering with Zixi, we’re able to bring Wurl TV’s programming to leading TV platforms and scale up at Internet speed with broadcast quality, which is vital for our clients,” said Sean Doherty, Wurl’s CEO and founder. “Zixi is a proven broadcast technology company that recognizes the need to deliver new types of programming to new audiences in new ways.”
“Zixi is committed to providing the most comprehensive set of public and private cloud software solutions supporting new business models for linear television workflows,” said Chris Noe, Executive Chairman of Zixi. “There’s great synergy between the companies and excitement in working with Wurl, the innovation leader in transforming content from top digital studios into linear programming.”
