Spectral Edge launches Ultra HD solution for color-blind viewers at M-Enabling Summit

  • Speaks alongside Comcast, Amazon and Yahoo at prestigious accessibility event

CAMBRIDGE, UK and WASHINGTON DC, USA — Spectral Edge today announced that it will unveil and demonstrate the new 4k Ultra HD version of its Eyeteq content accessibility technology at next week’s M-Enabling Summit in Washington DC (June 12-14th 2017). This enables Pay TV operators to better meet the needs of those that suffer with color-blindness, and consequently differentiate themselves from rivals.

As part of the event, which is dedicated to promoting accessible and assistive technology, Spectral Edge’s Matthew Terrell will speak alongside representatives from Comcast, Amazon Lab 126 and Yahoo. The session, “Accessible Media on the Internet: A New Paradigm”, will take place at 1.30pm on Wednesday June 14th 2017.

Based on the company’s patented Phusion technology, Spectral Edge’s Eyeteq is an assistive technology for color-blind viewers. It transforms colors on TV screens, tablets or smartphones to enable those with color vision deficiency (CVD) to see what they otherwise cannot, while viewers without CVD are not impacted. Pay TV service providers can now deliver a dramatically improved experience to color-blind subscribers in order to differentiate themselves, reduce churn and win new customers.

The latest version of Eyeteq is now able to deliver greater accessibility to Ultra HD content, scalable to higher frame rate 4K High Dynamic Range (HDR) video. It will be demonstrated on 4K UHD content on a state-of-the-art set top box at the Summit’s exhibition. Amongst the content shown will be sports footage that has been enhanced with Eyeteq to make it more accessible to color-blind viewers, who often cannot differentiate between opposing teams when watching such content.

“The theme of the M-Enabling Summit – making connected things and services accessible to all – reflects exactly what our Eyeteq technology delivers,” said Matthew Terrell, Business Development Manager – North America, Spectral Edge. “With Eyeteq, operators can better serve the 5% of the world’s population with color blindness, providing an opportunity to differentiate themselves through improved accessibility. The new ability to enhance Ultra HD content with Eyeteq means that operators can now benefit from an assistive technology that meets changing viewing needs, now and in the future.”

Bringing together professionals, corporations, service organizations, and key thought leaders, the M-Enabling Summit is an all-inclusive conference and showcase featuring innovative technology, mobile applications, connected devices, and services for more than one-billion users worldwide. The 6th edition of the M-Enabling Summit Global Conference and Showcase will be held on June 13-14, 2017 at the Renaissance Arlington Capital View Hotel, in Washington, D.C, with the International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP) Pre-Conference Session on June 12, 2017.
