CAMBRIDGE, UK — Muscatine Power and Water (MP&W) has announced that it has selected IP/Cloud video software and device specialist, Amino to provide IPTV devices to support the Utility’s major cable to fiber IPTV migration project. Amino will work with previously selected middleware provider, Innovative Systems to deliver an enhanced TV experience for MP&W’s communications customers.

Amino CTO, Mark Evensen said, “We see all TV becoming IPTV and savvy cable operators like MP&W are now embracing an IP migration strategy that will allow them to deliver traditional video services while also launching emerging applications across the operator’s user interface.”

New features will include network DVR, OnDemand video, access to 4k UHD content, online video and music streaming — all with the ability to be controlled by a traditional remote control or a slick smartphone app. Amino’s Kamai-series IPTV devices will be deployed to seamlessly deliver an enhanced IPTV service across MP&W’s network. The first customers are expected to come online later this Fall and fiber services will reach all homes and businesses by the end of 2018.

MP&W General Manager, Sal Lo Bianco said, “Moving to IPTV delivery moves us into the forefront of the technology and gives us the flexibility to deliver a transformed entertainment service to our customers. In conjunction with our move to Gigabit fiber to the home, IPTV will keep Muscatine on the leading-edge and guarantee high quality, state-of-the-art services to our customer-owners.”

As part of the video rollout later this year, MP&W will be replacing current set-top boxes with a variety of Amino IPTV devices which are considerably smaller in size, but packed with features that give consumers more flexibility and freedom than ever before, and will be fully ready for 4k Ultra HDTV as customers upgrade their equipment and more 4k programming becomes available from providers.

MP&W will provide additional details in the coming weeks through the news media, social media, advertising and its website.
