STOCKHOLM, Sweden — Accedo, the video experience pioneer, has worked with British broadcaster, Channel 4, to extend its redesigned All 4 video on demand service to additional platforms, including Now TV on Roku.

Accedo and Channel 4 are building on a long history of collaborating on the design, development and launch of multiple big screen implementations of Channel 4’s non-linear TV products. The updated All 4, initially launched on Fire TV last year, is now available across the UK on Now TV/Roku, Samsung Connected TVs, Amazon Fire, PlayStation 3 and 4, Freeview Play, and Freesat.

“Our viewers are increasingly consuming content on a wide range of devices alongside the traditional linear programming model,” commented Keith Underwood, Channel 4’s Director of Strategy and Technology. “For us it is extremely important that we deliver great content in a compelling way to as many devices as possible, where we know we have viewers with a huge appetite for high-quality, public-service content. Having a dedicated team of technical Accedo staff on hand to work with us to develop and deliver this service is extremely valuable. It gives us insights, agility and a development velocity that we need in this fast-growing market.”

The Now TV user experience was developed using the recently released Roku SDK 2.0 development tools, which provide, more flexible ways of enabling the creation of innovative and custom user experiences. Combined with its own range of solutions and experience, Accedo was able to build a truly bespoke offering for Channel 4.

“A great user experience is crucial for any video content platform, and building something which not just looks good and works well but makes the user feel truly engaged and immersed is key to a platform’s success.” commented Adam Nightingale, SVP International, Accedo. “It is refreshing when customers, such as Channel 4, place a great deal of importance on getting the UX right from the outset. The result is an extremely appealing service which we’re delighted to have worked on so closely with Channel 4.”

Accedo will be exhibiting at IBC on stand 14.E14, from 15th to 19th September.
