Today YouSee, owned by TDC, presents a Web TV product with access to 16 channels. With the product the TV content is streamed directly to the computer via a broadband connection. This means that for the first time in Denmark, the customers can view TV from different providers on one web page: yousee.dk/web-tv

“This is the first time customers can view different commercial TV channels from one access point on the web. And we plan to add even more TV channels. Cooperation with the content providers has made this service possible and we look forward to include even more TV channels. It is of course important for us to shape the development within distribution of content via more platforms and, therefore, we are happy to be the first in Denmark to introduce a web TV service with access to a number of interesting channels from different broadcasters”, says Anders Blauenfeldt, director of product development, YouSee.

The product is simple: you buy TV access for 24 hours, 30 days or 90 days. In addition to the 16 channels you also get access to 350 movie titles, which can be rented for a period of 24 hours. All broadband customers in Denmark with a connection of minimum 1Mbit/s have access to Web TV.

“We view Web TV as an addition to the primary TV service supply in the household. It is a strategic venture which aims to create a platform and secure both the technique and the rights for media distribution in the future. We will help develop the market for stream TV over the next couple of years. But we already see a great potential for our product at present – especially because it can be used from different places, both in and outside the household”, says Anders Blauenfeldt.
