EKT and Quadrille announce a key partnership

  • The cooperation between Quadrille and EKT means opportunities for operators to increase the revenue from their customers

LAS VEGAS, FRANCE and CHINA — EKT, a company specialising in the design and manufacture of Set Top Box solutions, and Quadrille, a leading independent software vendor for content delivery over broadcast networks, announced today the completion of the integration of the Quadrille MStore client, into the EKT Set Top box software stack. The integration of the Quadrille MStore client allows any of EKT’s customers on broadcast networks to add VOD, Catch-up and Replay to their STBs.

“In this competitive market we are always looking to provide additional value to our customers. The Quadrille VOD client integration into our software, allows operators to offer additional revenue creating services to their customers” says Richard Smith, CEO of EKT. He continues “With the initial deployment on an HEVC satellite network, we have proven that even a 1-way content delivery system does not mean that the end user is limited to linear content delivery. Together with Quadrille we can bring VOD in the most challenging low cost markets.

Xavier Battas, CEO of Quadrille, declares: “With this partnership, Quadrille customers can benefit immediately from a STB ready to deploy on broadcast networks enabling additional services like VOD or Catch Up without the need of any internet connection. Those new services mean more revenues for TV Operator and a better experience for their subscribers”.

Quadrille agent module, QuadriFast™ Mstore, in the receiving device is an intelligent piece of code, able to rebuild the content even if some packets are missing. Moreover, based on the tags of the contents, and according to end user’s profile, QuadriFast™ Mstore is able to download on the local storage only what matters to the subscriber. Quadrille Head End, QuadriFast™ server, ingests any file formats and schedules the transmissions with the possibility to adapt to the available bandwidths.

EKT and Quadrille will demonstrate their solution during the NAB in Las Vegas (April 9-12) on booths LV8425 and CU11102CM.
