Leading Silicon Vendor to Collaborate in Unique Industry Initiative Designed to Facilitate Porting

SAN FRANCISCO — OpenTV Corp. (NASDAQ:OPTV), a leading provider of solutions for the delivery of advanced television and advanced advertising services, today announced that STMicroelectronics (NYSE:STM), the world leader in set-top box chips, has joined OpenTV’s “Rapid Porting Program,” the OpenTV-led effort to provide rapid, high quality ports of OpenTV middleware to a wide range of chipsets and set-top boxes.

Launched in June 2007, OpenTV’s Rapid Porting Program brings together silicon vendors, set-top box manufacturers, conditional access suppliers and systems integrators to create full-feature set-top boxes allowing operators to launch new services in a time-efficient and cost-effective manner.

As part of the Rapid Porting Program, ST will be able to create OpenTV Core2™-certified drivers for STi520x and STi710x chipsets, which will enable manufacturers to expedite their development and porting efforts and bring set-top boxes to market faster. The drivers will be initially targeted at the MPEG4 Zapper set-top box market.

“We are thrilled to welcome ST to OpenTV’s Rapid Porting Program,” said Ben Bennett, OpenTV’s Chief Executive Officer. “OpenTV has a strong relationship with ST, and we are extremely pleased that they have seen the value we can bring to our common customers through this unique industry initiative. Delivering innovative and ever higher quality product quickly to market is the name of the game.”

“OpenTV’s program allows us to provide a highly cost-effective solution to our customers, perfectly complementing the high-end solutions from our partners allowing ST to have the most widely deployed and most complete OpenTV platforms,” said Philippe Lambinet, Executive Vice President and General Manager of ST’s Home Entertainment Group. “We are pleased to join OpenTV’s program and be a part of this unique initiative aimed at providing significant benefits to operators worldwide.”

By fostering the development of pre-integrated and pre-tested drivers for OpenTV’s Core2™ and PVR2™ solutions, the Rapid Porting Program offers significant benefits to network operators, including bringing solutions to market faster, lowering porting costs, reducing operational expenses, and achieving faster issue resolution.
